Over an intensive and rewarding five semesters, our Chicago nursing program prepares you to provide safe and competent patient care, nursing leadership, and advocacy rooted in values.
North Park’s second-degree nursing program prepares you to develop high-level thinking skills in five key domains, including nursing across the lifespan, population health, evidence-based practice, leadership, and communication. Graduates will be prepared to sit for NCLEX RN license exam; Students will be responsible for obtaining NCLEX RN licensure requirements for any states outside Illinois.*

In addition to the in-depth coursework, you’ll complete 612 hours of practicum experience in our simulation center and partner healthcare facilities. You’ll graduate prepared to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam as an RN, pursue post-master’s certification, or earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

The DEMSN program at North Park accepts international students. Those students may have additional requirements for admission. Due to the high-level language competency required in nursing, international applicants*** must possess proficiency in English at a level to enable them to succeed in graduate-level studies. All international applicants for the DEMSN program are required to submit results from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo English Test (DET).

What You’ll Learn
Our program will prepare you to make a lasting impact on patients’ lives. You’ll graduate with the skills you need to sit for the NCLEX-RN license exam. Students will be responsible for obtaining all NCLEX-RN licensure requirements for states other than Illinois. You’ll also have the option to pursue further postgraduate education.

Faculty Spotlight: Mariah West
Mariah West, MSN, CNM, WHNP-BC, is a dedicated healthcare professional and educator from Chicago, IL. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Sciences from Grand Valley State University. Mariah furthered her education by completing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), focusing on Nurse Midwifery and Women’s Health at Georgetown University. She is a faculty member in the DEMSN track, teaching nursing care to childbearing women in the DEMSN track and Professional Development I and Holistic Health Assessment. Mariah is also an active Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated member, reflecting her commitment to leadership and service in her professional and community life.
